Nominee #8 – Cemvision – Oscar Hållén, CEO

Building a future without burning the planet.

Concrete is everywhere, and so are its emissions. Cement production alone accounts for about 8 percent of global CO₂ output. Cemvision is radically changing that. By reimagining the recipe of cement, they’re creating a material that’s just as strong, but dramatically cleaner.

Instead of limestone, Cemvision uses industrial waste like mine tailings and fly ash. These are materials that would otherwise go unused. Their process requires less heat, no fossil fuels, and no clinker, the most carbon-heavy part of traditional cement. The result? A drop-in solution that cuts emissions by up to 95 percent.

Made for the infrastructure of tomorrow, Cemvision’s cement is already being tested by global construction leaders. It’s proof that the built world doesn’t have to come at the planet’s expense and that true progress is made from the ground up.

5 quick facts about the innovation

  • Cuts cement-related emissions by up to 95%
  • Uses industrial waste instead of limestone
  • Requires lower temperatures and no fossil fuels
  • Clinker-free production process
  • Compatible with existing construction standards
