Finance your project

Financing your transition project

Sweden is an industrial powerhouse, with a world class financing system. To realize a sustainable project together we make full use of our existing, proven financial capabilities and know-how.

Our contribution

  • Government sponsored support when building capacity and developing the concerned project. Support is tailored to suit the specific needs of every individual project. This helps to reduce risks and bring projects closer to completion.
  • The Swedish export credit system. Once the project becomes bankable this entails world class financing solutions backed by AAA-rated guarantees.
  • Support is centrally coordinated through Team Sweden (see Enablers). This means comprehensive understanding of the project from the start, and optimal efficiency when involving and coordinating relevant resources (see Resources).

Across multiple sectors

To meet NDCs and, ultimately, global climate goals the green transition has to take place on all fronts in industry, transport, commerce, and more. Team Sweden supports infrastructure projects across the globe in the following sectors:

  • Generation and smart grids
  • Energy storage
  • Mobility technologies and alternative fuels
  • Infrastructure and transportation
  • Green industry

Unlocking Climate Finance: Driving Green Growth in Developing Countries

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA)  supports the green transition in developing countries by funding projects that promote renewable energy, climate resilience, and sustainable resource use. This includes initiatives in clean energy, agriculture, and water management.

To mobilize private investment, Sida offers guarantees—risk-sharing tools that reduce financial risk for lenders. These guarantees help unlock capital for small businesses and climate-smart projects, especially in underserved markets. Backed by the Swedish state, they are designed to be flexible and catalytic, accelerating sustainable development without distorting local markets.
